Coated Concrete That Fits the Wasatch Front
Epoxy flooring in Ogden has to deal with two seasons that pull in opposite directions. Wikipedia's Ogden climate summary says snow usually arrives in late October or early November and the last of it falls around April, while summer highs often reach 95°F and the record high is 106°F. A garage floor here spends half the year under salty slush and the other half under hot tires. A good coating keeps the brine out of the concrete in winter and holds its bond and color through the summer.
Road salt starts on I-15 and ends on your garage floor
Utah salts its roads hard. ABC4 reported in 2023 that the Utah Department of Transportation uses roughly 236,000 tons of salt a year, including brine for pre-treatment and several types of rock salt. Weber County drivers bring their share of it home on tires and wheel wells. When that slush melts, it pools under the car and soaks into bare concrete. Over a few winters the surface near the door starts to flake and pit. A sealed, seamless floor keeps the salt water on top, where a squeegee can push it out the door.
Ogden's slabs have some age on them
Ogden is an older city than most of its neighbors. Census Bureau American Community Survey figures (2019 to 2023), as summarized by Point2Homes, put the median year built for Ogden housing at 1966, and 19.4% of its homes were built in 1939 or earlier. About 60.5% of the city's housing is single-family detached. That means plenty of detached garages and older attached garages with thin, cracked or patched concrete. Many also carry old paint or a store-kit coating that has started to peel at the tire paths. All of that has to come off or be repaired before a new system goes down, which is why we price floors in person.
Basements and radon
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality says about 1 in 3 Utah homes have elevated radon levels, and the state and EPA suggest mitigation at 4 picocuries per liter or higher. A coated basement floor looks clean and is easy to wipe down, but it is not a radon system. If you plan to finish a basement, test for radon first. If a mitigation system is needed, it can go in before or after the coating, and we will work around the pipe and fan.
The floor systems we install
- Garage floor epoxy: a 100% solids base coat over diamond-ground concrete, with a tougher topcoat for traffic and salt.
- Flake epoxy floors: colored vinyl flakes broadcast into the base coat, which hides dirt and gives texture underfoot.
- Polyaspartic coatings: fast-curing and UV stable, so the floor is back in use sooner and holds its color near an open door.
- Basement floor epoxy: systems chosen after a moisture check, for storage rooms, gyms, laundry areas and family rooms.
- Metallic epoxy: a poured, marbled finish for basements, bars and studios where the floor is part of the look.
- Shop and warehouse floors: thicker coatings for rolling loads, forklifts, fluids and steady foot traffic.
What a typical install looks like
- A walk-through to agree on what gets moved and where the coating stops
- Moisture, hardness and contamination checks, plus a look at every crack
- Diamond grinding of the full floor and edges, then a thorough vacuum
- Crack, spall and joint repair
- Base coat, color or flake layer, and a clear topcoat
- Written cure times and care tips for winter salt and summer heat
Why we do not quote by phone
Two garages of the same size in Ogden can need very different work. A 1950s detached garage on the east bench may have a sloped slab, wide cracks and an old paint layer. A newer three-car garage in West Haven may need little more than grinding. We measure, test and look first, then give you one written number.

Where We Work
Ogden is the center of our service area. We also coat floors in North Ogden, Pleasant View, Harrisville, Farr West, Plain City, West Haven, Hooper, Roy, Riverdale, South Ogden, Washington Terrace and South Weber, in the Ogden Valley towns of Huntsville and Eden, south into Davis County at Sunset, Clinton, West Point, Clearfield, Syracuse, Layton and Kaysville, and north to Willard and Brigham City. The floors change as you move around. South Ogden and Washington Terrace grew fast during and after World War II, so many garages there are small and decades old. West Haven, Syracuse and Pleasant View have added thousands of homes since 2000, with larger attached garages. Up in the Ogden Valley the snow is deeper and the salt season is longer. Each town page covers what we know about the homes and floors there.

Why Homeowners Call Epoxy Flooring Ogden
We grind every floor
Diamond grinding removes weak, salt-worn concrete and old sealers. Acid etching does not, and that is a common reason kit coatings peel.
We test before we quote
Basements and garages get a moisture check so the system matches the slab. If water is the real problem, we say so.
Systems picked for salt and sun
Garage floors get a chemical-resistant topcoat with texture, and floors near open doors get a UV-stable topcoat that resists yellowing.

Common Questions
How much does epoxy flooring cost in Ogden?
HomeGuide lists professionally installed epoxy at $4 to $10 per square foot nationally, or about $1,600 to $5,800 for a two-car garage. Polyaspartic runs $5 to $12 per square foot in its guide. Old coatings, salt damage and crack repair add to the total. We give you a written price after we see the floor.
How much do contractors charge for epoxy flooring labor?
HomeAdvisor reports contractor labor at $50 to $150 per hour and says labor makes up 33% to 60% of an epoxy floor's total cost. HomeGuide puts labor at $3 to $5 per square foot. Most of that time goes into grinding, repairs and cleaning before any coating is mixed.
Can you put epoxy on hardwood floors?
Epoxy is sometimes poured over wood for tables and craft projects, but a wood floor moves with humidity and temperature, and a rigid coating can crack. We coat concrete only. For a wood floor, another flooring material is usually the better choice.
Which brand of epoxy should I choose for a garage floor?
The type of product matters more than the label. HomeGuide says water-based epoxy may need a new coat every 3 to 5 years, while solid epoxy can last 10 to 20 years. Store kits run $200 to $700 and rely on acid etching. A 100% solids base over a ground surface, with a polyaspartic or urethane topcoat, holds up far better to Utah road salt.
Does road salt hurt an epoxy garage floor?
A cured, well-bonded coating resists salt much better than bare concrete. Brine left sitting for weeks can still dull the topcoat. Squeegee meltwater out after storms and rinse the floor a few times each winter to keep it looking right.
Can you coat a garage floor in an Ogden winter?
Each coating has temperature limits for the air and the slab. HomeGuide notes that polyaspartic can be applied in a much wider temperature range than epoxy. In cold months we check the slab temperature, may heat the space, and lean on fast-curing systems. If conditions are not right, we reschedule.
How long before I can park on a new floor?
HomeGuide gives a full cure of 1 to 2 days for polyaspartic and up to a week for epoxy. Solid epoxy is walk-on dry in about 18 hours. We give you exact times for your floor based on the product and the temperature that day.
